Prepare for Awesome! iGianMC discovered, that if you add &fmt=18 to any YouTube URL, the video plays in significantly higher quality. Here are before/after screenshots:

The best and easiest way to tell the difference between standard and high quality is to make the videos play in full screen. The higher quality movies play at larger size and quality. Additionally, a link appears under the video allowing you to switch back to standard quality.
